As some of you may recall from this tutorial I posted a few months back I, unfortunately, am not blessed with curly locks. Don't get me wrong, I love my straight hair -- I just blame years of watching Sex and the City for my affair with wild, crazy curls. Of course, I haven't let this deter me in achieving my own Carrie-esque look -- trying everything from hot rollers (I never had the patience for putting them in) or sleeping in small braids (which usually earned me the nickname of Bo Derek from 10).
My best fool-proof tip thus far though, would have to be using hair products intended for curly haired gals, which after all these years, I'm not sure why I didn't try it sooner! It makes sense right? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Their styling products usually have much more hold to them (key for making sure your faux curls last all day) and their de-frizzing creams work miracles for someone who is constantly on the go (not to mention commutes a ton!).
That said, I'm so excited to partner with Paul Mitchell this fall for their Truth About Curls campaign. I've already discovered a few favorite products of theirs, specifically the Ultimate Wave Beachy Texture Cream-Gel, which was perfect for maintaining my lose waves during our Tahoe getaway last weekend.
So I turn to you (curly haired and straight haired gals alike): what's your curl confession?!
Love your wavy hair, it always looks so effortlessly chic!

I too crave voluminous curls but infuriatingly have the straightest hair known to man. I use Oribe's dry texturizing spray after I've curled my hair to give it some lose hold and also help lift the roots a little more. Never considered using curly hair products, will have to give it a go!
ReplyDeleteHurray for curly hair! I'm with ya sista--Paul MItchell is THE BOMB.COM! <3

Your waves really are totally perfect. I'll have to check out these products. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your hair secrets and confessions!! I naturally have a very similar wave/curl to your hair in the above shots. I typically straighten it, but I have embracing my natural texture these days after moving back to the humidity from Denver! I always enjoy your posts, keep up the incredible work!!

Your hair looks great! I have naturally curly hair and I would have to get it blown out then curled to achieve this look. Curly hair confession: my hair frizzes and dries easily. It's also heavy so the curls fall. I'm still trying to find the best products so good luck!

I have naturally wavy hair, so to get loose curls with a curling iron, it really doesn't take much... But it also has inconsistent staying power. For curls/waves that STAY, I use my curling iron like normal, only instead of letting the curl fall off the barrel, I slide it off the curling iron still rolled up and pin it with a bobby pin or curling iron. I do this all over my head, then go about the rest of my getting ready (make up, dressing, etc). I even will do other things like the dishes, or watching a show on hulu... When I let them out, I finger comb and walk out the door!
ReplyDeletedefinitely grabbing those products, I need my hair to get curly without being frizzy!

is this advertising? sounds like a commercial. Do not get me wrong I love your blog and I follow it. I only wish bloggers would let followers know when their posting as advertising.
ReplyDeleteHi Giorgiana! Thanks for your comment! To answer your question, yes, this is a sponsored post. I tagged it with the label "sponsored post" above but perhaps it would make more sense to include that in the body of the post as well so it doesn't get lost? I'll definitely consider this in the future and thanks for the feedback! It really does help!
