back to basics


Shirt: Zara (similar style here); Skirt: Zara (similar style here); Shoes: Christian Louboutin; Bag: London Fog; Sunglasses: Karen Walker; Jewelry: H&M bar necklace, Emerson made medallion necklace, H&M wrist cuffs worn as ankle cuffs (similar style here)

After my week-long foray into color and patterns, San Francisco's somewhat gloomy weather has me reaching for my trusty black and white basics. Basics can sometimes get a bad rap for being, well, too basic, but I think they make for the perfect opportunities to debut your more daring accessories. Case in point? These wrist cuffs recently turned ankle cuffs.

    Love this! The whole wrist to ankle cuff thing sounds like something that could easily come off as "I'm trying too hard to be edgy and different but this really just looks sort of weird" but your version was SO. WELL. EXECUTED. I really love how you tempered it with the basics so it's not so in-your-face, but an interesting detail that makes you look twice once it catches your eye.
