You may have caught me alluding to this news I'm about to share (or perhaps you over heard me yelling it here with excitement on Twitter), but either way, drum roll please...
In just a few short days (eep, T-minus 7 and counting!) I'll be heading to the land Down Under, specifically New Zealand and Australia for a much-needed two week vacay! It's my first time visiting each country but both have been at the top of my bucket list for quite some time now. (If we want to get nitty gritty about it, it all started with my Lord of the Rings obsession in high school, but we'll save that story for another day.)
Of course, as the diligent traveler I am (read: I can barely focus on much else these days), I've been immersing myself in countless travel blogs, adventure tour sites and naturally, a few fave Aussie fashion blogs (hello Gary Pepper!). But I'd love to hear what you guys might have up your sleeves! Any tips/sights/adventures/stores/restaurants/Tolkien must-sees that we simply cannot miss? I'm all ears!

Make sure you go to Queenstown in New Zealand and eat at Fergburger. Drive along the Western Coast of NZ as well. Go to the 12 Apostles in Melbourne if you make your way down there, and if you want to surf, Seven Mile Beach just south of Sydney has the best waves for beginners.
ReplyDeletecute!! :-))

I too had a serious Lord of the Rings obsession in high school! Pippin was my fave hobbit and how sexy was Aragorn?

Cute outfit! Have an amazing time - I did that trip in high school and it was an all time favorite! There is so many things you should do - coral reef (Cairns), Sydney Opera house, see the kangaroos and koalas in Australia and in New Zealand - hike (Franz Joseph Glacier was incredible), rapids, swim with the dolphins, see some Geysers! Safe travels!

Perfect look - Love that top, killer layering! <3
ReplyDeleteAhh Australia is one of my fave places (up there with Paris and Spain). The people are just SOO generous and its kind of like the US, 25 years ago...a wholesome country! Shopping is amazing. Each mall dedicates the bottom floor to up and coming designers and its a great concept that the US should adopt! Sight wise, Sydney is stunning admist the water. Make sure you see the opera house (obvs) and go have dinner at Darling Harbour! Consider stopping in Fiji on your way back, you'll fly right over it on your way home (totally worth it). You will have a blast! Safe travels!

I live in Sydney (moved here from London 10 years ago) and there are so many great places to go. I live in Newtown, and would recommend a trip to King st for drinks/shopping/foo. Surry Hills is another great area....
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you'd like specific recs.
For clothes, def go to Pretty dog in Newtown. Tanya, the owner, stocks a great selection of local and overseas labels!
Hello,Ciao...always your outfits are works of Art...this one too...it's great how you wear the jeans...and like the Hat!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your stay in gorgeous Australia and New Zealand!
Hi! If you are serious about visiting LOTR locations, going to Matamata, place of the Hobbiton, is a must. Matamata is a small town within 2.5 hr drive from Auckland. You can get a rental car or a bus tour from Auckland. There are daily tours to the Hobbiton, the Information center is located right in the town center on Broadway Street. It's a spring in New Zealand, you will see many trees and flowers in a full bloom, but be prepared for a changeable weather. Have a great holiday! Anya.
ReplyDeleteHi Krystal, I have been following your blog for a while now. I live in Auckland, New Zealand (I'm a New Zealander). Enjoy your time in my lovely country and if you need anything while you are here or have any questions, please get in touch (jodywinter@xtra.co.nz). I actually live in Auckland's retail suburb (Newmarket) so let me know if you want any shopping tips! Spring weather is changeable so bring layers!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous! That animal print T and jacket go so well together.

I've dreamed of going to Australia and NZ since I was a little girl but sadly haven't been yet. My parents went to Australia a few years ago and had a a wonderful time. They also talk about swimming with the turtles and eating at great Middle Eastern restaurants! Hope you have a fabulous time. Can't wait to see all the pics!
ReplyDeleteLuci’s Morsels – fashion. food. frivolity.
Sail the Whitsunday Islands! You can do quick 3 day trips and it seriously was the most incredible experience. You dive off the boat in the morning and watch the turtles wake up around you. Not to mention Whitehaven Beach, the best beach I've ever been to. Have fun, Australia is great.
ReplyDeleteLove your jacket!

The Occasional Indulgence
Yay NZ! If you're in Wellington, Cuba st for vintage shopping (especially missy's room and ziggurat) and city gallery for well created exhibitions
ReplyDeleteHi Krystal,
ReplyDeleteHope you're coming to Melbourne during your visit :) I would recommend Chapel Street for shopping and Bridge Road for outlet shopping. If you want a mall, go to chadstone! Foodwise, three bags full / hardware societe for brunch and rockpool / Chin Chin.
Enjoy your stay! If you need more information let me know x
Melbourne! Melbourne! Melbourne! A city full of culture, crazy weather, good coffee and of course fashion! There is some great shopping to be had here! Try the old laneways in the city, in particular hit up Zomp a great shoes shop on little collins street and miss lousie on Collins street! You have to hit up the australian designers, try the GPO for Zimmerman, Sass and Bide, FAT ( yes it's a shop - a truly fantastic one at that, lots of great quirky designers) and my personal favourite Gorman. X
