While our apartment hunt continues, the man friend and I are slowly warming up to the idea of us decorating a space together. Let's just say he prefers function over aesthetic and, well, I'll give you one guess as to what side of the fence I'm on. In fact, his main concern, which he voiced the other day was as follows, "You do know our apartment can't be black, white and lots of gold, right?"

My heart sunk a little. But what else would it be?

Which brings me back to the drawing room, i.e. Pinterest, to start hunting for ways to make the space more masculine. And in all honesty, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far! While I'm going to push for a white couch and black accents (sorry Dan!) I think there are plenty of ways to give it more manly touches, like these images above. I love how a crisp white couch is the main focal point, but accents like rustic, natural wood, dark mahogany leather and taxidermy pieces can add a different perspective where I might have otherwise added, say an oversized gold piggy bank

Needless to say, we have a ways to go, but baby steps, people. Baby steps! ;)

  1. haha, if only our guys would butt out of decorating. if only. ;).

  2. boy do I know that feeling - I think my husband finally agree, well I decided he could just have his own room to decorate. Xo Megan, www.TfDiaries.com

  6. If my husband said to me "you know our apartment can't be black, white and lots of gold" I'd probably consider divorce. Luckily for me, he lets me have free reign. Good luck!

  13. Oooh but black, white and gold are such a great combo! I'm sure you'll decided on something equally perfect :)

  14. Haha ah if only men would just accept that black, white, and gold are the best decorating colors!

  15. Awesome inspiration. A white couch looks great but also gets easily stained <3

  16. And they say "women are hard to please"... I think you have a great concept for design. It can definitely pass with touches of manly decor and a bit of yours as well. My husband and I like to think of designs together at our apartments in buckeye I think we do an okay job at it.
