lazy sunday {at home}

Pajama set: Abercrombie top and bottoms; Bra: Abercrombie; Mug: Starbucks, last year (love this set); Rings: Ver Unica and Elizabeth & James

Since we're all settling into our winter hibernation mode, I thought I'd share a little slice of what our Sundays have been looking like lately. Coffee, cuddles with the pup and lounging around in satin pajamas (for most of the day) are usually what I look forward to the most, especially as the holiday season starts to wind down. It's really is such a treat to stay cozied up with with loved ones with absolutely nothing to do for the day. I have to admit, it doesn't happen often around these parts (especially since this time of year is extremely busy at work for both the man friend and I) but when it does, I truly cherish it.

And while I've been known to steal pajamas from my boyfriend more than I'd like to admit, I've been stepping up my game lately. I've waxed poetically about pajamas as daytime wear before and now I'm finally seeing the beauty of falling asleep in something comfortable yet luxurious like a satin pajama set.  Honestly, I'm not sure what took me so long! I'm hooked! In honor of that realization, I was excited to shop around the loungewear section at Abercrombie (all of which is 50% off this weekend) to pick out my new Sunday best, just in time for a lot of lazy days spent at home, catching up with family and re-watching A Christmas Story far too many times. I mean, it's not officially Christmas until we're all repeating "You'll shoot your eye out!" Right?

What holiday traditions (and associated holiday lounge attire) do you look forward to the most this time of year?

this & that

Thanks to the long weekend break last week, I managed to sneak in a little apartment rearranging (long overdue if you ask me!). Moved around some old favorites and even added a few new faces (like the fellow above snagged from my home decor haunt, Past Perfect -- ain't he something?!). I have to admit, there's something refreshing about seeing your space in a new light -- even if that means just moving your couch to a new spot! In the words of a wise man before me, it can really tie the room together. ;)

My flower guy ran out of hydrangeas when I stopped by to stock up -- luckily I'm a sucker for peonies as well.

Elvis has found his new go-to spot. Shhh...just don't tell the man friend! He's technically not allowed up there but I have a hard time telling him no. I mean, that face -- I just can't.

I originally bought this chair when I was living in my old apartment with the intention of keeping it as a closet chair. Since my closet space is a bit smaller in this place of ours, this guy hasn't had a good home...until now! I think I need to scoop a second so it can flank the other side of the couch.

This is his other favorite spot -- under the couch.

And on that note -- cheers to the weekend ahead!

a clean, well-lighted place

While our apartment hunt continues, the man friend and I are slowly warming up to the idea of us decorating a space together. Let's just say he prefers function over aesthetic and, well, I'll give you one guess as to what side of the fence I'm on. In fact, his main concern, which he voiced the other day was as follows, "You do know our apartment can't be black, white and lots of gold, right?"

My heart sunk a little. But what else would it be?

Which brings me back to the drawing room, i.e. Pinterest, to start hunting for ways to make the space more masculine. And in all honesty, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far! While I'm going to push for a white couch and black accents (sorry Dan!) I think there are plenty of ways to give it more manly touches, like these images above. I love how a crisp white couch is the main focal point, but accents like rustic, natural wood, dark mahogany leather and taxidermy pieces can add a different perspective where I might have otherwise added, say an oversized gold piggy bank

Needless to say, we have a ways to go, but baby steps, people. Baby steps! ;)

apartment therapy tour

A couple of months back I welcomed one of my favorite home decor sites, Apartment Therapy into my little studio for quick photoshoot. Needless to say, after laying out all of my shoes around the apartment, snacking on delicious chocolates from Miette and gabbing with the lovely Leela, I've been dying to share the finished results ever since! Click on over to their site to see the full tour de force -- would love to hear what you think!
