dorothy called

Jacket: Alexander McQueen (old, but obsessed with this similar style); Dress: Tanya Taylor (borrowed from McMullen Boutique in Oakland); Shoes: Valentino; Sunglasses: YSL; Bag: Chanel

While I may not live in the Bay Area anymore, I still love discovering local gems there -- it makes my visits back home that much more eventful if I get to revisit an old neighborhood and see how it's changed, how it's reinventing itself or what new spot everyone is lining up for brunch on Sunday.

My most recent discovery? It's actually a hop across the Bay Bridge over into Oakland: McMullen Boutique. I had the chance to meet shop owner (and accessory extraordinaire) Sherri McMullen when she and her team were out in New York for Fashion Week. She's just as lovely as I imagine her boutique to be -- filled with Tibi, Roksanda Ilincic, Edie Parker and soon Self Portrait -- and I know on my next visit out west, I'll be making many a pitstop in her neck of the woods. In the meantime, she was gracious enough to loan me a few pieces for NYFW, including this oh-so-sweet Tanya Taylor number that's sure to give Dorothy a run for her money.

For all my Bay Area readers, I hope you'll pop over to say hello to the ladies over at McMullen sometime soon!
