neon, neon

Jacket: ModCloth (similar style here); Dress: Shipley & Halmos (similar style here); Shoes: Asos (similar style here); Clutch: H&M (similar style here); Sunglasses: Karen Walker; Jewelry: Michael Kors watch, Dannijo collar, H&M cuff

Found a new discounted designer boutique near my apartment (dangerous!) and scooped up this neon yellow number, because, well, my life has been lacking in neon lately. Added bonus: I have so many neutrals it goes smashingly with -- look for a remix soon!

neon + neutral

Blazer: Zara (similar stye here); Sweater: Wasteland on Haight Street (similar style here); Shorts: Urban Outfitters (similar style here); Shoes: Charlotte Ronson; Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company (similar color here); Sunglasses: Karen Walker; Jewelry: Michael Kors watch, J. Crew chain bracelet, "Krystal" name necklace from Mynamenecklace.com

This bag is just what I needed to brighten an otherwise very gray day in San Francisco -- only further proof that neon and neutrals are just so right together!

miami swim fashion week {outfit #2}

Shirt: J. Crew (similar style here); Shorts: Urban Outfitters (similar style here); Shoes: Proenza Schouler; Bag: c/o Brahmin; Sunglasses: Ray-Bans; Jewelry: Michael Kors watch; Gorjana "Super Star" necklace c/o

Perhaps one of my favorite aspects of Miami is the mash up of art deco and neon everywhere you look. On this particular day, spent in South Beach, we wandered around admiring the pastel-painted boutique hotels with hot pink neon signs and I suppose I took some subconscious sartorial cues along the way. Classic and understated up top? Check. An obnoxious colorblocked party on my feet? Check!

the rat pack {the cromwell}

Just a heads up for this post: There are A LOT more photos to see. Simply click "read more" below the text here to see the rest. And trust me, you'll want to see the rest.

As someone who's originally from Nevada (Northern Nevada to be exact), I've always had this love/hate relationship with Vegas growing up. Albeit, hate is a strong word. Perhaps it's more of a distaste? A moderate disliking? An indisputable intolerance?

Don't get me wrong. There's a love side to this relationship, too. Ever since I was young, I've logged plenty of family vacations down to Vegas, numerous road trips with friends for college football games (go UNR!) and have even had the occasional drunken gambling spree with girlfriends when we were passing through after a jaunt to the Grand Canyon. I don't think I could argue with the statement: Vegas doesn't disappoint for a good time.

But then the third day in town hits. And I usually wonder (with a pang of a hangover headache settling in), "OK, should I pack up now?"

I think I can pinpoint this to a few things. First, as much as I love playing Blackjack and a few kitschy slot machines, I hate losing money and will usually bow out once I've lost $50 (which happens pretty quickly). Second, I like to mix things up when I'm on vacation. There's something about just staying inside a casino or a hotel the entire time that gives me cabin fever (which for the most part, a lot of my past Vegas trips have been centered around just hopping from casino to casino).

So where am I going with all of this? Well, this rambling preamble is simply to say: after this last trip, my mind has changed about Vegas. Drastically.

nicole miller s/s 2012

Strong 80s vibes abounded at the Nicole Miller show last week. Neon geometric graphics paired with black and white stripes -- very "Saved by the Bell" esque, but in the best way possible!

Note about the third photo: 1.) I love the way this dress straps in the back 2.) Look at Mr. Hamish Bowles looking dapper in the front row there!

I've been JINXd

I love perusing the fashion blogging community, seriously, it's like an inspiring gold mine of ideas, all at your fingertips.

Don't know what to wear with those tights? See what someone else came up with.

Don't know how to pull off that leather vest? No biggie. Someone lovely at blogspot has got you covered.

Think you're crazy to wear red, pink and neon green together unless you're binging on some acid? I bet there's someone out there in the World Wide Web that would assure you that you aren't.

What I love even more though, is just how support everyone is of each other.

So you can imagine the shade of red I turned when I stumbled upon the Fashion Jinx the other day and happened to see myself featured among his fashionistas ala mode. I almost couldn't believe it. Me? Little ol' me?

Even if Mr. Jinx claims temporary insanity for posting me up there, I don't care. A big, big, BIG thank you is in order! That said, without further ado, THANK YOU!

Oh, and go check him out. Now.

ode to overalls

Overalls: Vintage Lee (love this pair); Shirt: Everlane; Shoes: Christian Louboutin; Wallet: Proenza Schouler; Sunglasses: Coach; Necklaces: Jennifer Zeuner; Rings: Alexa Leigh, Katie Dean, The One I Love NYC; Watch: Michael Kors; iPhone case: Nicole Miller

I bought this pair of overalls over my first summer here in San Francisco (almost 4 or so years ago now). Oddly enough, I remember buying them for a few paint projects I had in the works, never fully intending to wear them out save for an occasional coffee run, paint splatters and all.

Flash forward over the years, and I've managed to dress them up in ways I don't think overalls were ever intended to be worn (some good and some not so good). Admittedly, I have to say this is the part of fashion and trends in general that I can see why people deem it all too fickle (um, ya, that neon lucite clutch of mine is still sitting in my closet, gathering dust). But sometimes when the trend is a comfortable, broken-in boyfriend denim one-piece that harkens back to elementary school days, well I'm sold. Doesn't hurt that I always have something to paint in either.

Currently Loving: Neon Brights

Fluorescent yellow 13" bag, Cambridge Satchel Company (similar color here)

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you may already know that this brightly hued beauty showed up at my office the other day. It then, of course, promptly sat on the front of my desk serving as a traffic signal of sorts -- or maybe from all the office rubber neckers, it was the cause of traffic. Either way, fine by me, as long as I have my shades handy!

Seriously. So. Bright. These photos do not do it justice. Hopefully some outfit pictures will, though! Stay tuned later this morning to see the bag in action!

nyfw a/w day 2

Dress: Christopher Kane on major sale!; Jacket: Alexander McQueen (similar style here); Fur stole: Otte; Boots: Givenchy; Bag: Chanel; Sunglasses: Celine; Lips: Stila "Beso"

I may or may not have stalked this dress obsessively until it went on sale. It's a little crazy (OK, velvet, neon florals and mesh scrunched sleeves? Yeah, a lot crazy). But....I love it.

Wore this for a handful of shows at Lincoln Center and, perhaps what I'm more excited about, the Broadway show "Commons of Pensacola" with SJP herself. It's arguably hard to see her as anyone aside from Carrie, but she's incredible on stage. As is Blythe Danner. Heather and I have made it our mini-tradition to always see a Broadway play when we're in town together, and I'm so glad we haven't missed a chance yet.

daytime slip

Blazer: Ted Baker: Dress: Proenza Schouler; Shoes: Zara; Sunglasses: No label, bought at a concert (similar style here); Wallet: Proenza Schouler; Lips: Nars "Heat Wave"; Necklaces: Jennifer Zeuner (here and here)

This dress doesn't get enough credit here on the blog -- it's one of my go-tos for date nights and the fact it's a slip with hardware and neon fringe? Icing on the cake, if you ask me!

to the kid living upstairs from me...

To the eight-year old kid living upstairs from me, please, please, please stop screaming. I am this close to going up there and telling you that Santa doesn't exist.

Go ahead, kid. Try me.

On a lighter, I-want-to-put-out-positive-vibes-into-the-universe note, today was beautiful. Warm, clear, no rain and the light at 4 this afternoon was perfect. Suz and I strolled around during a break at work and stumbled upon this post office. The faded mint green and rust pink colors were too tasty to pass up.

And might I just add, I have been in love with this particular jacket for quite some time now. I remember spotting it at ModCloth around Christmas time, but put it on the back burner in the spirit of Christmas and already over-charged credit cards. It arrived yesterday at work and I haven't really pulled it off since! It's a lightweight leather/suede combo and buttery to the touch! And don't get me started on that drape. I die.

Oh, the yellow lips you ask? No, no neon collagen injections for me. The lovely folks at Lulu Guinness sent me this cute, "Lips" clutch. How fun, right?

Jacket: Urban Icon Jacket, courtesy of ModCloth
Shirt: Black tank top, can't remember where I got it?
Jeans: White skinny distressed jeans, PacSun
Shoes: Black platform pumps with studs, Steve Madden
Clutch: Yellow lips clutch, courtesy of Lulu Guinness

P.S. OK, OK. I won't go burst that kid's bubble about Santa. But if he tries this again at 6 a.m., I can't be held responsible for early morning grogginess.

ModCloth is a lovely sponsor of This Time Tomorrow.
