fooled ya

Admit it: for a split, fraction of a second you almost thought I had on thigh-high boots, huh? OK, a millisecond, perhaps? Halfsies of a millisecond?

Whether I fooled you or not, I must gush about these sheer black tights I have on underneath my boots, ahem, thigh-high socks. They're Evan-Picone and I haven't ripped them (yet!) and hopefully I won't either (don't hold your breath, though).

Hope everyone is having a bearable back-to-the-grind Monday. Almost December, folks! Just keep that in mind.

Blazer: White blazer, Urban Outfitters
Dress: Wrap tunic, watercolor pattern, Urban Outfitters
Tights: Black sheer tights, Evan-Picone

crawl time

Today I'm playing photographer for a local beer crawl, i.e. free beer. Go me. Just what my recently stuffed with food body needs right now. Bring on the heavy carbs!

Since I knew I need to be comfortable and somewhat ready to chase people down, I went for a low-key chic grunge look today, a la Cocorosa and Song of Style. I love how both girls combine such edgy, rocker pieces with flirty, feminine touches.

And if all else fails, I can throw on a pair of faux reading glasses and fake it as Daria. Man, who else misses that show?!

Jacket: Fatigue jacket, Forever 21 (scored it on sale yesterday!)
Dress: Ruffle cream colored dress, Angie
Boots: Motorcycle boots, Dirty Laundry
Bag: Leather purse, Old Navy

P.S. Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was fabulous! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who reads and comments here at This Time Tomorrow. You are all beautiful and make my day!

kobe wanted me to tell you

I hope everyone out there has a happy turkey (or tofu-rkey) day! And in honor of this joyous holiday I give you ... uh, this L.A. Lakers-inspired wall ... ?

Sure. Why the f- not?

Now reach for your nearest stretchy pants and eat up!

style chain

So you all know the drill. The style chain drill. First off, we have the lovely Ms. Julie from Orchid Grey and the gorgeous Ms. Christina over at Second Skin. I love how both ladies worked the belted scarf over dresses with tights, unfortunately, I'm tired of shivering while typing at work. Boots, jeans and a cardigan were in order.

And, (gasp!) check it out. I mixed prints. Subtle, but it works for me.

Sweater: Cream cardigan, Simply Vera for Kohl's
Jeans: Dark skinny jeans, BDG
Boots: Tan riding boots, vintage
Belt: Leopard print belt, J. Crew
Jewelry: Gold bow necklace, Beacon's Closet

slow sunday

Just some eye candy for a slow Sunday evening. Picked up the Australian Vogue (loved the illustration rendition of Cate Blanchett), "The Fashion Book" published by Phaidon, "Contemporary Fashion Illustration Techniques" (because I like to kid myself that I can draw) and the Urban Outfitters Holiday 2009 catalog (the last four photos are some of my favorites; by Estelle Hanania).

Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to get back to lounging.

Happy Sunday!

MK an A plus K

I kind of feel like an Olsen twin today. Slouchy hat. Long, drapey skirt, big wedge heels and some interesting vintage jewelry.

Now where's a venti-sized Starbucks cup when you need it?

Happy weekend, everyone.

sunshine on my shoulders

While as of late I've been desperately trying to branch out of my black and white color palette, I just couldn't help myself today when I was finally able to sport this cardigan courtesy of The Sunshine Avenue. The fit of the sweater alone is super comfortable and who can resist a little on-trend military epaulettes?

Not this girl. That's who.

Do go check out the rest of their stuff. Lizzi has some great items going up in her shop that I can't wait to see! (And order!)

Cardigan: Black button down cardigan, courtesy of The Sunshine Avenue
Shirt: Black and white striped tee, Urban Outfitters
Shorts: Vintage Levis cut offs
Tights: Black tights, Target
Shoes: Black wedges, Aldo

whoa weardrobe!

Sorry Bank of America. Looks like I have yet another reason why I might have to be late with my credit card payment.

Shoot.

But totally worth it. I swear B of A. You would be late too if you saw what Weardrobe just added to their site.

For those of you, perhaps like B of A, who don't know Weardrobe, I suggest you join ASAP. Not only do you upload and catalogue your own style photos and closet items, but now you can actually shop via their site, as they recently partnered with like.com, an online shopping site that gives you similar item suggestions from a wide variety of retailers.

Take my above photo for example - the skirt and shoe link pictures actually direct you to a listing of different brands and price ranges for a similar item to what I'm wearing in the photo.

Tres awesome, no?

So you see B of A, it's not my fault. I mean, surely you've wanted someone else's leather skirt and had to know where to get it. Right??

That's what I thought.

P.S. Outfit post later today, promise!

blogger meet up anyone?

There's nothing really special about this outfit. I just like the jacket. And the shirt. And that's all I have to say.

On that insightful note, I noticed that Erin of Calivintage posted about a blogger meet up for Nov. 22 in the Bay Area (which I'm going to try to make!) and it got me thinking: Are any of you lovelies from northern Nevada and would be interested in a NN blogger meet up? Just a crazy idea. Not sure how many fashion/style bloggers there are in my area, but I know you exist. And since you exist, would you be interested in setting something up?

Shoot me an e-mail sometime soon (krystalbick@yahoo.com) and let's chat about getting it together!

Jacket: White leather jacket, Silence & Noise for Urban Outfitters
Shirt: Floral print blouse, Urban Outfitters
Jeans: Dark skinny jeans, BDG
Shoes: Black heels, Aldo

deck the halls

Yup. Another productive day at work. Outfit post later today, so stay tuned. I just had to post this Christmas tree dress in the meantime. Not comfortable for general moving around (or breathing for that matter) but looks darling, right? Can never be too early to get in the spirit, I always say.

Dress: Handmade by my editor and staff set designer from actual Christmas tree branches and ornaments
Tights: Fishnet tights, Target
Shoes: Red heels, Junkee Clothing Exchange

I told you so

Well. You have been warned. I've been itching to wear a bow tie since seeing "Coco Avant Chanel" and while I look no where near as adorable as Audrey Tautou, I'm still pleased with the end result. Except for the part when I took off my blazer and my boyfriend told me I looked like a waitress. That part I was not pleased with. Ahem. Ian.

But today is said boyfriend's birthday, so I'll let it slide. Just this once.

Blazer: Tweed and leather blazer, Charlotte Ronson for JCPenny
Shirt: Ruffle button down blouse, thrifted, originally from J. Crew
Skirt: Black velvet mini skirt, H&M
Bow tie: OK, not really a bow tie, just a bow from Walmart that I pinned on
Shoes: Black heels, Aldo

some loot

Alright, folks. Here's some of the loot I scored the other day while thrifting. (Isn't that belt with the little chain darling?!) And as alluded to in yesterday's post, I'm still running on pretty high inspiration levels, which I will use to the best of my abilities today for another quick (and hopefully cheap!) shopping trip.

Wish me luck, guys.

Also, I have to apologize for my horrible hair lately. Getting the bangs trimmed tomorrow so no more headband/bun combo!

Sweater: Grandpa chunky knit sweater, Gap
Dress: Grey ruffle dress, thrifted
Boots: Tan riding boots, thrifted
Socks: Black over-the-knee socks, Target
Belts: Skinny leather belts, thrifted

today's to-do list

Today I did the following:

  • Slept in until 1 p.m., which feels glorious and much deserved after spending about a week of working from 9 a.m. until 1 a.m. EVERYDAY.
  • Took a nice long shower and actually got sorta gussied up, again much deserved after spending a week in "I-don't-care-what-I-look-like-mode."
  • Went shopping. YES. Feeling better already.
  • Met a fellow blogger (Second Skin) while thrift shopping. So nice meeting you today by the way! Let's make thrifting dates!
  • Finally set up my rolling rack and organized the former pile of clothes on my floor. Totally inspired about putting together an outfit tomorrow morning.
  • Speaking of inspiration, I saw "Coco Avant Chanel" yesterday and cannot wait to start finding ways to incorporate little bow ties, straw hats and cropped men's trousers into the daily rotation.
  • Speaking of Coco Chanel, I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO SPEAK FRENCH. ASAP.
And what better way to do that than the following:

Yup. Paris Vogue and cookies. Yum and yum. Happy Sunday everyone!

poncho-cho-cho

Happy Friday the 13th everyone. Hope you're all staying warm, steering clear of ladders, black cats, broken mirrors, 13-month old babies, cracks in the sidewalk, full moons.

You get the picture.

Sweater: Knit poncho, vintage
Jeans: Dark rinse skinny jeans, BDG
Boots: Black over-the-knee boots, Chinese Laundry
Hat: Black panama hat, Halston

as seen on TV

I feel like it was only a few days ago that I was complaining about how ungodly hot it was. Now, I'm forced to wear all layers possible at work. Including that throw blanket on the couch. I've been eyeing it all morning and decided that someone in the name of fashion will forgive me for wearing a glorified Snuggie.

On a side note, I was on the news today. Yep. Breaking news at 5 o' clock about the magazine. While I wasn't interviewed, they did a dramatic pan in shot of me typing away on my Mac. Oh so serious. Or perhaps I was just sleep deprived. Hopefully it looked like the former.
